Between Holy and Holon – Beit Lessin Theatre [English Subtitles]
Yehuda Weiss is a successful businessman. He lives happily with Ayala, his partner, whom he fell in love with when he went off the ‘derech‘ (left the orthodox-Jewish way of life), and they raise their daughter Yael. What Ayala doesn’t know is that on the fixed days of the week when Yehuda flies for his business in Belgium, he actually travels to Jerusalem to be with his ultra-Orthodox family. His wife, Sarah, is unaware that on the days Yehuda is supposed to manage his business in Belgium, he simply removes his coat and hat, and rushes to lead his life as a secular person in Holon.
Yehuda Weiss leads a double life because, until today, he simply couldn’t decide. When his secular daughter Yael informs him that she has fallen in love with a young ultra-Orthodox man, Yehuda feels that the double disguise begins to strangle him. In an attempt to save himself, he continues to lie and complicate things until the truth is revealed, only to be followed by another surprise, and nothing is as it seems. After the great success of “Four Mothers,” playwright Daniel Lapin and director Ilan Ronen return with a crazy comedy that provokes thought about the most Israeli neurosis: tradition versus liberalism within one person.
Duration of the show: approximately one hour and thirty minutes, without intermission.
