PIBA Launches New Online Application System for Partner Visas

PIBA Resumes Partner Visa Services with Major System Upgrades

After a week-long shutdown to implement a system upgrade, the Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA) has now resumed all partner visa services. The main change for the end-users, is a redesigned application process that can now be accessed only through the Israeli National Identification System, GovIL. The new application form should now be more secure and user-friendly, and includes enhanced convenience features and document management tools, detailed below.

Despite some remaining issues in the new system, and possible challenges for applicants less familiar with the GovIL technology, AIC views this upgrade as a positive step toward greater automation and efficiency in the bureaucratic process. We commend PIBA’s IT team for their efforts in advancing this improvement.

Key Changes to the Partner Visa Application

  1. GovIL Login Requirement: The Israeli applicant now must register and log into GovIL to submit a partner visa application. In case you face issues registering or logging it to GovIL, please contact AIC.
  2. Automatic Address Recognition: The new system automatically detects the Israeli partner’s registered address and assigns the appropriate visa office based on that location. If you do not live at your registered address, make sure to update it before submitting your application to avoid processing delays or errors.
  3. Save and Resume Feature: Applicants can save their progress and return to complete their application later, making the process more flexible and accommodating. When activating this option, a link to access the application at a later stage will be sent via sms or email.
  4. Enhanced Document Management: A dedicated tab now allows applicants to review, replace, or remove uploaded documents easily.
  5. Additional Passport Details: Non-Israeli partners with multiple passports can enter all relevant passport information in a new section.
  6. Direct Access to Forms: Required forms, such as AS3, AS6, and AS1, can now be downloaded directly within the application.

Renewal Applications and Document Submission

The rules regarding visa renewal applications remain the same, as explained in our Partner Visa Renewal guide. The offices will use the upgraded online form to collect your renewal documents in advance, review them, let you know if any are missing, and summon you to a renewal meeting.

Please note, as per the procedures it is mandatory to submit an online renewal application. With the new form and system’s launch, offices will start using the online form even if they haven’t in the past.

We can confirm, that renewal applications are fully integrated into the new system. When logging it through GovIL, Israeli applicants already in an active visa process will see their partner’s name auto-filled, and the system will direct them to a dedicated renewal form without needing to manually select “extension of existing application.”

  1. Oh yeah, that’s basically how I submitted my boyfriend’s and I’s forms.
It was quite useful to have it save the process via link and be sent to my phone/email.

But it’s been like this since around the end of August/Start of September.

Either way, I can safely say that I didn’t face any issues regarding this new updated way of submitting the documents.
    Was easy enough 🙂
