The Two-Faithed Man – Beit Lessin Theatre [English Subtitles]
Yehuda Weis is a successful businessman. He is happily married to Ayala, with whom he fell in love when he stopped being religious, and the two of them have been raising their daughter Yael together. What Ayala doesn’t know is that on the days Yehuda takes business trips to Belgium every week, he actually travels to Jerusalem to spend time with his other – Haredi – family. Yehuda’s other wife, Sara doesn’t know that on the days he is supposed to be conducting his business in Belgium, he actually removes his yarmulka and black jacket and travels to Holon to live as a secular man.
Yehuda Weiss has been leading a double life because to this day, he simply hasn’t been able to decide. When his secular daughter Yael tells him she has fallen in love with a young Haredi man, Yehuda feels that his double costume is starting to strangle him. In an attempt to save himself, he weaves an increasingly complex web of lies until the truth is revealed; but another surprise is waiting, and nothing is as it seems.
After the resounding success of “Four Mothers,” playwright Daniel Lappin and director Ilan Ronen are back with a madcap comedy that explores the most Israeli neurosis there is: tradition versus liberalism within one person.
